Project lab: play it forward

The registration to our project lab „play it forward“ is now open 
We invite teachers, youth educators and youth leaders to Cologne from December 6th to 8th, 2024 for the project lab "Gaming in International Youth Exchange". In cooperation with the Initiative Creative Gaming e. V. we will explore the possibilities of gaming for youth exchange and develop new digital formats.

Discover the unifying power of gaming!
Games have always been integral to youth exchange programs. The ‘play t forward’ project, initiated in 2023, aims to enhance the role of gaming in digital international youth exchanges. We provide organizations and institutions with preliminary guidelines, encourage them to develop their own projects, and offer qualification support.

Join us for a project lab!
This advanced training will allow participants to explore platforms, creative tools, and games under expert guidance, address pedagogical challenges including the legal aspects of digital projects, and craft their digital exchange concepts using gaming. An overview of future possibilities in Virtual Reality (VR) will also be included in the event.

We are excited to collaborate with the creators of PLAY – Creative Gaming Festival, who will co-facilitate the project lab.

Get to know other enthusiasts, create your gaming exchange scenarios!
The program is designed for interested volunteers and professionals engaged in international youth work or those who want to do so. Whether you lead bi-, tri- or multilateral youth exchanges on a professional or voluntary basis: If you are interested in innovating digital international exchange formats, you are welcome to apply.

We also would love to encourage those who are gaming-in-youthwork enthusiasts, who would love to enter the world of international exchange.

Important to know!
We are offering 14 places to participants from Germany and six to those from partner countries. The project lab will be conducted in English.

The project is organized by the "play it forward-Team" and sponsored by the Globus Foundation. A participation fee of 50 EUR covers meals, accommodation in a single room, the program, and insurance. Participants are responsible for their own travel costs. Travel subsidies may be available upon application and consultation. For international attendees, specific travel grants may also be considered. Please reach out to us for more details.

Play it forward  is a program of the German-Russian Youth Exchange Foundation, which is undergoing a transformation process following Russia's attack on Ukraine. The project lab is explicitly aimed at everyone who does international youth work. A German-Russian connection is not required.

The registration deadline is October 10th 2024. Early registration is recommended as places are filled on a rolling basis.
